I am a psychologist interested in understanding the learning processes and behaviours that help people to be mentally healthy, and how these are different when people have depression and anxiety. In particular, when people ‘feel in control’ of their life and things that happen to them, they tend to experience better psychological well being than people who feel helpless to effect change for the better. This is an important area of study as helplessness is linked to depression and suicidality. Therefore, control and other relevant topics, are the subject of my ongoing research. Take a look our research projects webpages for more information about specific projects and you can always contact me by email.
